I absolutely love the spring, and the warm weather so early in the year has been incredible! April 21, 2012 was the perfect day for a wedding. Bridgette was and absolutely stunning bride! It was great to work with her and Sean to design the flowers for their wedding day, and I was honored to be a part of it. I loved the blue and orange combo, one of my favorite combos so far this year! It’s official! Spring has sprung and a new wedding season has begun. Not only are there new buds on the plants and new events to be planned but there is also a new face at Dahlia’s! Allow me to introduce myself, I’m Lauren Brumley and I have the privilege of assisting Rachel with creating beautiful arrangements for your unforgettable day.

If I had to summarize my experience in a few words, it’s an eclectic mix! Including marketing, communications, sales, event planning and almost everything that you might associate with those. And now I can add one more aspect to that list –I could not be more excited!

May 5th marks my first event and, even more excitingly, the wedding day for a charming couple, Cassy and Ben. Hosted at Wallinwood Springs Golf Club in Jenison, the hydrangeas, roses, and delphiniums added the perfect touch to their perfect day. Thanks to Sam Johnson with Evelyn Vaughn Photography, you can take a glimpse of their big day below!

And they lived happily ever after!

Winter Wonderland: Amanda and Brad

February 12, 2012 was a beautiful snowy day, one of the very few wintery days we had this year in Michigan. The trees were covered in large pillows of snow; the setting was perfect for Amanda and Brad’s winter wedding. When I first met with Amanda and her mom I was blown away by how sweet and charming both of them were. They were such a pleasure to work with! Plus I loved the color of Amanda’s flowers, bright pink is one of my favorites!

I was very excited to get the photos from the big day, Tricia from Frame by Frame Photography took advantage of the snow, creating some truly fantastic pics. The stark white of the snow also made the girls dresses and flowers POP! What a beautiful couple! Amanda was glowing, I had the pleasure of setting up just before Amanda went in to have her first look with Brad, her excitement and emotion was contagious. You could truly see the love there.

Misunderstood Flowers: Baby’s Breath

Baby’s Breath is a timeless flower, but one that has been pushed to the sidelines by larger bolder flowers. It seems that many people are afraid of this wispy little flower because of its common affiliation with out-dated styles and designs. I have pulled together some pictures to prove those myths wrong! And that baby’s breath, when used in the right way, can be a perfect touch to any wedding. Enjoy!

I Love the details in the following couple photos. Baby’s Breath is so sweet and soft, and I cant get over how beautiful and full the wreaths and centerpieces are.

Don’t be afraid be afraid of this sweet white bloom, it has a look and feel all its own. Simplistic, romantic and at times absolutely breathtaking.

I absolutely adore this couple! They have such a genuine love for each other and it is evident in everything they do. I had such a blast doing the flower for their October wedding. Fall colors are one of my favorites to work with and just love the mokara orchids in this arrangement. So here are a few photos from their special day, Enjoy!

Bridal Show

It has been a long but incredibly exciting weekend! The Grand Rapids Bridal Expo was a great success and we met so many amazing and beautiful brides. I cant wait to meet with those who booked consults at the show. I wanted to put up some pictures for the girls who were there and also for those who just wanted to check out what was keeping Josh and I so busy this weekend. Thanks to my best friend and former business partner Rachel Harper for snapping the photos for me, she is the best!
